At HydroVictoria Busia, we’re excited to share our journey as one of the potentially shortlisted SMEs in sustainable waste management in Kenya, through SWIFT program supported by IKEA Foundation alongside Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC). Our participation in this program marks a significant step forward in our mission to champion sustainable waste management and promote regenerative agri-aquaculture practices in Kenya.
Recently, we had the privilege of hosting the SWIFT program team, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to showcase our work. With two stages of evaluation successfully completed, we now eagerly await the final stage, hoping to secure our spot among the 55 selected SMEs in Sustainable Waste Management in Kenya.

Hydro Victoria was assessed among other participants of the SWIFT Program
At HydroVictoria, our passion lies in transforming organic waste into valuable resources, particularly through insect-based protein production. Through our initiative, we aim to train over 6000 farmers across Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Kakamega, and Kilifi Counties in black soldier fly farming. This innovative approach not only addresses the challenge of organic waste management but also provides an alternative source of protein while promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
The SWIFT program, facilitated by the Kenya Climate Innovation Center and supported by the IKEA Foundation, aligns perfectly with our vision of building a circular economy and fostering sustainable innovation. By participating in this program, we gain access to invaluable resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities, enabling us to further develop and scale our initiatives.

As we await the final stage of the evaluation process, we invite you to join us in our mission. Whether you’re a farmer looking to adopt sustainable practices, a youth interested in black soldier fly farming, or simply someone passionate about environmental conservation, we encourage you to get involved. Engage with us on our socials or send us a message here. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on waste management, promote sustainable agriculture, and create opportunities for communities across Kenya.
Join us as we strive to create a better, more sustainable future for generations to come. Together, let’s champion sustainable waste management and pave the way for a greener, healthier planet.
